Trying to spend some time making the new album has been a challenge recently. Work on the day job has gone through the roof and I feel like I’m a bit behind on my (admittedly non-existent) schedule.
I recently ordered some more copies of the Life Line CD as I had no more copies of the last run left – and they have now arrived. This time the CD is contained within a card envelope rather than the plastic boxes of the original release.
I’m honoured to have been asked back to do some busking at Woking’s popular Party in the Park on Saturday 9th July.
If you’ve not been to Party in the Park before it’s a great event – not just a wide variety of music, but food stalls, fairground attractions. There are also plenty of things for kids to do as well. And it’s all free!
It takes place in Woking Park, just south of Woking town centre and close to the Leisure Centre. The party kicks of at 12:00 noon, and finishes at 9pm.
I’ve currently no idea what time I’m going to be playing, or where in the park, but I’ll post on that when I know more. You can bet it won’t just be me busking though, there are loads of great musicians in the Woking area – of all different styles.
So why not pop along and have a great time. And let’s pray for good weather like last year.
The formal address for Woking Park is: Kingfield Road, Woking GU22 9BA and there’s more information on the Celebrate Woking website.
When the Life Line album was first finished and released back in 2009, I wasn’t performing on a regular basis. Apart from the actual recording process, I was even playing the guitar very much at all.
So the initial run of copies of the Life Line CD was very small – in fact I replicated them all myself on my laptop. My laptop then had a laser etching application and so I got hold of some two-sided discs and made them all – so completing the do-it-yourself nature of the project.
I have just uploaded a new rough demo version of It’s Only Love to Soundcloud.
The song was originally written in the 90s, and was a Britpop style guitar thrash. This version is stripped down – just me and an acoustic guitar to let the emotions in the song shine through. It’s obviously quite a sad song about betrayal and the end of a relationship.
It’s the first finished demo of the few that I’ve been working on recently – demos for songs that are going to be on my next (still as yet untitled) album.
Hope you like it.
