Work Has Started On The New Album

Early last month I posted that I was going to be recording an album this year. Well work has started on the process.

I’ve been collecting together a list of songs for consideration. I’m looking at there being 10 songs on the finished album, but I’ll probably work on more as sometimes songs just don’t work as expected when it comes to recording.

Potential list of songs

The current rough list is shown here. Some songs will be solo voice/guitar and some will be recorded as a band.

  • It’s Only Love (solo)
  • High Time (band)
  • Time, Time, Time (band)
  • Commit Yourself (solo)
  • If You Could Only See (solo)
  • Your Eyes Are My Sun (solo-ish)
  • Take Your Chance (band)
  • Sail Away (band)
  • How Did You Know? (solo)
  • Lonely Me (solo)
  • D A D A D A G (band)
  • Abmaj7 C (solo)
  • A New Kind of Love (solo)
  • If You Were Still Here (solo)

But things are likely to change over time.

The next step is to start creating some demos of the songs to work out arrangements and backing vocal harmonies etc. And some of the songs in the list still need to be finished – those ones are likely to get recorded later on in the year.

Woking Council Attacks Phoenix Cultural Centre

Get Surrey has reported on strong comments made by Ray Morgan, Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council.

Apparently he accused the Phoenix of ‘whinging’, ‘moaning’ and ‘rubbishing other organisations’.

I’m sure there has been a misunderstanding here as from my experience the Phoenix organisation has always tried to do the best for music in the Woking area. Phoenix CEO Elaine McGinty didn’t respond directly to the accusations, but said “We have been putting the cultural agenda on the map in Woking and assisting the council in that.”

There’s also an audio of Ray Morgan’s comments to the council.

Tracy & Graham: Set Has Extended

Tracy and I have been practicing and performing together for just over 3 months now.

In that time, Tracy’s confidence has grown considerably, and I’ve been introduced to a bunch of songs that I probably wouldn’t have paid much attention to otherwise.

We’re now regularly performing:

  • Someone Like You (Adele)
  • Black Magic (Little Mix)
  • Valerie (Amy Winehouse)
  • First Cut is the Deepest (Rod Stewart)
  • Smooth Operator (Sade)
  • On The Beach (one of mine)

And we’re rehearsing:

  • Because the Night (Patti Smith)
  • Wherever You Will Go (The Calling)
  • Lovesong (Adele)
  • Your Love is King (Sade)
  • Lonely Me (one of mine)
  • Leave Me Now (one of mine)
  • Hotel Califrnia (Eagles)
  • Eternal Flame (Bangles)

We’re looking forward to bringing these songs into our set soon.
