Lyrics
It feels like I’ve been waiting for such a long time for you
I can see my life flash before me, but what else can I do.
So if you hear my throat clearing, if you hear my song.
I’m hoping that it’s good enough,
So you’ll want to come and sing along.Sometimes it seems I’m invisible, I feel just like a ghost.
I’m the man who haunts your house,
and the places you visit the most.
But if you feel my heart beating, or feel my pulse,
You’ll know that I am driven by desire,
I’m the one who wants you the most. And it’s high time, you gave your love to me.
Yes it’s the right time, if only you could see.
So it’s high time, yes it’s the right time.
I don’t see the problem,
I’m scared it’s never meant to be.Why can’t I accept the fact that you don’t want to play.
Maybe I should give it up, and then just walk away.
But when I see you smiling at some thing that I’ve said.
When I hear you talk to me, I can’t believe it’s dead. And it’s high time, you gave your love to me.
Yes it’s the right time, if only you could see.
So it’s high time, yes it’s the right time.
I don’t see the problem,
I’m scared it’s never meant to be.Copyright 2019 Graham Armfield

Song history
Early in my songwriting career I seemed to have a strong fixation on major seventh chords. My song ‘I Run Through Fields’ from the 1980s was a product of this time. But then I got out of the habit of using those chords.
Whilst pulling songs together for the Found My Way album I discovered that I’d strayed back into major seventh territory – both here on High Time and also on Tell Me Now.

High Time was written very quickly – the structure dropping out almost straight away, and the original set of lyrics requiring very little editing from the first draft.
It’s one of my favourites from the Found My Way album, and features Tracy Ginn on backing vocals.
