Lyrics

I watch the rain fall from my window,
See clouds colour up the sky
Why does it make me so reflective
To see you go walking by

I want to know if you still love me like you used to do
I want to hear those words from you, if they’re true
I’ve heard so many strange things
Different things from different people
I don’t think I know what’s been going on

Each day seems closer to that question
The one I long to ask of you
To find some space in your perfection
For a lost soul with nothing to do

I want to know if you still love me
I want to hear those words from you, if they’re true
I’ve heard so many strange things
Different things from different people
I don’t think I know what’s been going on

Sitting here just waiting for you answer
Sitting here just waiting for your call
Sitting here just trying to understand
Why I can’t get through to you

I want to know if you still love me
I want to hear those words from you, if they’re true
I’ve heard so many strange things
Different things from different people
I don’t think I know what’s been going on.

Song History

‘I Want to Know’ was written in late Spring of 1987, after the end of a relationship – bet  you couldn’t tell…

At the time I wasn’t in a band, and the song wasn’t right for my next band – Silent Blue – either. Because of that, the song barely got played for years – being overlooked in favour of newer material.

It was only when I was working out which songs to record for the Life Line album that I decided to put my faith in it.

Since then, I’ve grown to love the song even more and I’ve been regularly performing it at gigs and open-mic nights in the last few years.
